Lectora Inspire Upgrade FAQ’s

Is there a cost to me?

No!  If you have a current JumpStart or Maintenance agreement, the upgrade is complimentary.

I have a trial version on my machine – will that affect my new installation?

If you have downloaded the trial version of Lectora, this software can be converted to a retail version by inserting the serial/registration code you will be issued with.

Do I have to remove my current Lectora software?

Yes you do.  It is a breach of your contract.  If Lectora software is detected during the installation process, you will be prompted as below and it will uninstall and continue the installation of Lectora.  Maintaining different software versions may also cause unnecessary confusion. During the installation and un‐installation process you will need a live internet connection.

Do I have to register the software after installation?

Yes you do.  If the software is not registered all content built will contain a trial watermark and the software will shut down after a 30 day period.

I have built content using the trial version of Lectora – can I still access this?

Yes, you can.  Just open your content files in the live/retail version of the software and watermarks will be removed.   Resave and carry on.

Scaling text for different devices in a Lectora 16 RCD Title

text_scalling

When building a responsive title in Lectora, you may want to adjust the font size of a text box, depending on what device the user is viewing your content on. You may realise that by adjusting the font size in any device mode, it applies the chosen font size to all device sizes! For this reason, Lectora also includes the option to set ‘text scaling’.

Scaling the text creates an override of the default font size, for each device type, and also orientation. (The text scaling controls are disabled on the desktop view since you cannot create overrides in that view. Additionally, the labels in fields will change colors to reflect the current override values for each device view).

Scaling the text will not affect the displayed value in the Text Style group. The Text Style value reflects the base value for the text block. If the base value is changed, that change will apply across all views and the scaling will reset.

To Scale the Text

  1. Select the text block that you want to change.
  2. In the work area, select one of the responsive views other than desktop.
  3. On the Home ribbon, drag the slider or use the appropriate plus or minus button to scale the text in the current view. The values increase or decrease in 10% increments. For example, to increase the text size, drag the slider arrow to the right. The scaling factor (applied to the base) and the resulting effective font size are adjusted accordingly.

The text is changed for the current view. Additionally, the scaling values are inherited to the phone views if the current view is a tablet view.

The current scaling factor and size of the font are displayed in the Home Ribbon. Use this information if you plan on adding similar text blocks to the page.
