gomo System Requirements

Introduction

gomo is a really versatile authoring tool and is compatible with most devices and operating systems. Because you don’t need to download any software, gomo’s cloud-based home means you can login to gomo from just about any environment. You might want to double-check the technical tables here to make sure your chosen device, browser and operating system is compatible with gomo.

SCORM tracking

Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) is a collection of industry standards and specifications for e-learning which define communications between your content and your learning management system (LMS). All gomo-authored content is SCORM 1.2 compliant.

This means that your content is able to store user data, helping you to track:

  • successful launch of the gomo course
  • progress and completion of the gomo course
  • data to be written to the LMS
  • last session time
  • last page accessed (bookmarking)
  • user’s final assessment score in the course
  • learner name and unique ID of learner
  • progress through individual sections/ topics (not attempted, incomplete, completed) will be displayed to the user via progress indicators and stored in suspend data field
  • interoperability checks will occur each time a user logs in to ensure tracking data is collected on progress, assessments etc.

xAPI tracking

Content authored in gomo supports the xAPI (The Experience API or TinCan) tracking method.  When content is published to the gomo hosting platform, xAPI is enabled by default.  You can also manually enable xAPI for externally distributed content.  Further information relating to enabling xAPI tracking in your course can be found on our support site.

Video, audio and image formats

The following formats should be used in your gomo projects:

Video

  • Video and animations must be mp4 files encoded using an h264 codec for widest device support.
  • Files should be kept as small as possible as they can make your apps very large if not compressed correctly and generally we’d recommend the video being 480×320 as it still looks good when scaled up but keeps the file size down.
  • When uploading a video an image thumbnail should be uploaded to go with it. This will be displayed at its original size and when clicked it will launch the video full screen.

Audio

  • Audio should be in MP3 format.

Images

  • Images should be in either PNG or JPEG format.
